How to Store Protein Powder in Singapore’s Humidity
By Best Nutrition - Singapore · · 2 min read
Quick answer
Store protein powder and supplements in a cool, dry cupboard away from the stove, sink and direct sunlight, keep the lid or bag tightly sealed, always use a dry scoop, and do not keep tubs in the fridge where condensation forms. Discard powder that smells off, changes colour or has hard, damp clumps.
Moisture is the enemy
Singapore’s average humidity is high all year. Every time you open a tub, moist air gets in. Over weeks this can cause clumping, flavour changes and, in the worst case, spoilage.
Storage dos and don’ts
- Do keep tubs closed tightly and bags fully resealed.
- Do use a completely dry scoop and keep it inside the tub.
- Do store in a cool cupboard, not next to the stove or kettle.
- Do not refrigerate: taking cold powder in and out creates condensation.
- Do not leave supplements in a hot car.
- Keep the silica gel packet inside if one is included.

Frequently asked questions
Is clumpy protein powder safe?
Light clumps that break apart easily are usually from minor moisture and are generally fine. Hard, damp clumps, mould or a sour smell mean you should throw it away.
Can I store creatine the same way?
Yes. Creatine is also best kept sealed in a cool, dry place.
